Practice Sessions in Boler Give MBA Grad a Real-World Advantage

Molly Cheraso was passionate about her job as an accountant at KeyBank. She wanted to pursue an MBA program that would allow her to grow in her position faster.

Molly made the choice to enroll in the part-time program at the Boler College of Business. The program featured convenient hours and in-person interaction with professors, but it also provided Molly with a significant advantage.

Studying in night classes at Boler gave Molly the opportunity to hone skills that she could use the next day at work. Giving presentations to local business leaders in the classroom provided her with real-world feedback. “I regularly have to make persuasive presentations at KeyBank,” Molly says. “Practicing how to do this while in a lab-style setting really helped.”

John Carroll also aims to train students to think differently. Molly found that Dr. Scott Allen’s class provided an in-person perspective that most MBA programs ignore. “Emotional intelligence and leadership topics are easy to understand in theory, but hard to apply in practice,” she says. “The program gave me the opportunity to observe and practice the skills I needed, ultimately allowing me to develop faster and stronger than I could have otherwise.”

For Molly, setting goals helped her get the most out of her Boler experience. “Define what you want to get out of this experience, because you will get back what you invest in it.”

“I would recommend this program if you’re looking for a program deeply rooted in the Cleveland community,” Molly says. “If you want to interact with local business leaders and deepen your leadership abilities, JCU is the right place.”
