Background
Dr. Garcia is a Certified Public Accountant (North Carolina), and comes to John Carroll from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, where she taught after earning her Ph.D from Virginia Tech. Prior to that, she worked in the Private Client Advisors group for Deloitte Tax in Raleigh, North Carolina. She also served as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps before becoming an accountant.

Dr. Garcia teaches undergraduate courses in taxation, financial accounting, and managerial accounting.
Research
Dr. Garcia is interested in archival and experimental research in taxation, especially as related to corporate social responsibility, corporate lobbying, tax policy, and the political process.
