Background

Prior to joining the faculty at John Carroll, Dr. Elliott held faculty positions at the University of Texas at El Paso, Oklahoma State University, and the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.

Courses

Dr. Elliott’s teaching interests are in the areas of corporate finance, investments, derivatives, international finance and financial markets.  He employs a team-based learning method in his classroom in order to improve learning outcomes and accommodate a wider variety of learning styles.

Research

Professor Elliott has research interests in stock splits, security issuance, capital structure, valuation, executive compensation, and mergers. His work has been published in premier journals, such as the Journal of Accounting and Economics, the Journal of Business, the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, the Journal of Financial IntermediationFinancial Management, and the Journal of Corporate Finance. He has presented his work at numerous conferences and universities. He is a member of the American Finance Association, the Financial Management Association, and the Eastern Finance Association.
