Background

Dr. Zhang joined John Carroll University in January 2018. With the background of personal financial planning, Dr. Zhang helps to build and lead the Financial Planning and Wealth Management program at Department of Economics and Finance. He is both a Charted Financial Analyst (CFA) Level III candidate and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) candidate.

Courses

Dr. Zhang’s teaching interests are in the areas of both corporate finance and personal finance. He has taught the courses including corporate finance, financial markets and institutions, asset management, retirement planning, and wealth management.

Research

Dr. Zhang has research interests in investors’ portfolio choice, investors’ risk perception, empirical asset pricing, mutual funds, ETFs, and annuity. An overarching scheme of Dr. Zhang’s research is to empirically investigate the financial decision making of individual and institutional investors. He has won Best Paper Award at 2017 Academy of Financial Service (AFS) Annual Meeting and Best Paper Award at 2018 American Council of Consumer Interests (ACCI) Annual Meeting
