Graduate Admissions

You become a Boler graduate student by applying directly to the Boler Graduate Business Programs Office. When you are ready to apply, the online graduate application will ask you to choose from one of three student designations:

  • Graduate Business (if you are a U.S. citizen and are planning to enroll in a graduate program)
  • International Graduate Business (if you are not a U.S. citizen and are planning to enroll in a graduate program)
  • Non-Degree/Transient Graduate Business (if you are taking graduate classes for personal enrichment or as a transient student from another university)

Your application will be reviewed by the graduate admissions committee and the appropriate Boler dean or program director will communicate with the applicant concerning all admissions requirements and decisions.

Application Deadlines

You become a Boler graduate student by submitting a completed application package no later than 30 days prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants are admitted on a rolling basis, however, the following dates are recommended as program admission decisions are made on a competitive basis:

  • Fall: August 1
  • Spring: December 1
  • Assistantships: February 15
  • Fellowships: March 1
  • Summer: April 1

Boler Graduate Qualifications

To qualify unconditionally for admission to a Boler College of Business graduate program, you must hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college and have earned a 2.8 cumulative grade point average (based on a four-point system). Individual programs may have specific requirements.

The Boler Professional MBA requires:

  • Two or more years of full-time professional work experience.
  • An undergraduate degree from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 2.8.

The Boler Emerging Leader MBA requires:

  • An undergraduate degree from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 2.8.
  • Emerging Leader MBA admissions information may be found here

The Boler Online MBA requires:

  • An undergraduate degree from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 2.8.
  • Online MBA admissions information may be found here

The Boler Master of Science in Accountancy requires:

  • An undergraduate degree from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 2.8.
  • Master of Science in Accountancy admissions information may be found here

The Boler Master of Science in Innovation and Entrepreneurship requires:

  • An undergraduate degree from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 2.8.
  • Master of Science in Innovation and Entrepreneurship information may be found here.

Application Checklist

The following documents will complete your application for review:

  • A completed online graduate application - APPLY TODAY
  • Official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended
  • Statement of Purpose – an essay titled, “Graduate business education: Enabling me to achieve my personal goals and become a leader.”
  • Current Resume
  • Letter(s) of Recommendation - letter(s) should comment on your academic achievements, managerial capabilities, and potential to flourish in a graduate business program. One Letter of Recommendation is required however you may may submit up to three.
  • Official scores on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) for certain scholarship and graduate assistantship consideration; No code required for the GMAT; Submit your GRE results with the John Carroll University code 1342

  • Professional MBA/US Students

    Admission decisions are made on a competitive basis. Your application will be considered on a rolling basis for each of the three Professional MBA enrollment periods: Fall, Spring, and Summer.

  • Professional MBA Academic Qualifications

    • Two or more years of full-time professional work experience.
    • An undergraduate degree from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 2.8.

  • Emerging Leader MBA/US Students
