Background
Dr. Lynn began teaching at John Carroll University in 1987. Prior to coming to John Carroll, Dr. Lynn was very active in design and development of systems for use in medical research at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, the Southwest Research Foundation, and the Cleveland Clinic Foundation Research Division. After 14 years of consulting in the design and management of business systems, Dr. Lynn served as Director of Information Systems for a multinational manufacturing company headquartered in the greater Cleveland area.
Research
His areas of research interest include expert systems and artificial intelligence, system development and migration strategies, legal & ethical issues in information systems, and educational technology. Dr. Lynn’s publications span a wide range of areas including information technology, education, medical research, business, and management.
Additional Information
Dr. Lynn is currently president of the BarLynn Technological Corporation and on the Board of Directors of The Empire Industrial Supply Company. He first conceived the idea of using integrated business software and a “model” company as a means of integrating the business curriculum in 1992. The Virtual Corporation Project at John Carroll University’s Boler College of Business is the result of the efforts of the many faculty members and administrators who shared this vision, and the many companies, organizations, and individuals who have donated more that $400,000 in cash and $2,000,000 in kind. Dr. Lynn helped lead an effort to make the Boler College of Business a member of the SAP University Alliance Program, and in 1999 co-authored a proposal that won the SAP Curriculum Development Award ($100,000) and brought the SAP R/3 system to John Carroll University.
